About Me
All my life, I have wanted to be able to help people feel better. I feel that it is a calling that God has placed on my heart and He has blessed me with skills that are somewhat outside of the ordinary in Physical Therapy to be able to accomplish this goal.
I have been a physical therapist for over 25 years now. I first started working in a hospital setting where I was able to train in a wide variety of disciplines for the first few years. I worked on the acute floors treating people with everything from traumatic injuries to illnesses, in the skilled nursing unit with a largely elderly population, in the acute rehabilitation unit working with clients after strokes, head injuries and other kinds of neurological damage and finally in the outpatient orthopedic setting where I found the most satisfaction in improving people’s quality of life. I have continued in this field ever since.
When our son became of an age to start school, I decided to homeschool him and so left working in an outpatient clinic and became an independent home physical therapist where I would see a few people a week in their homes. I also developed a love of producing our own food and cooking it from scratch during this time. We raised chickens, ducks, rabbits, dairy goats, pigs and sheep on our small acreage. I discovered homeopathy as well about 15 years ago and have continued to study it and apply it in our home and on our farm to the present time. When we moved to Idaho in 2019, we expanded our small farm to include cattle and alpacas. Then when our son graduated a couple of years ago, I began to refocus my efforts on one of my first loves, Physical Therapy, and just recently I have opened a small office in Kamiah so that I could work more efficiently with a greater number of people.
As a lifelong learner, I have studied many, many different therapeutic techniques and applied them with my clients. Always, I was searching for the best methods to get the fastest and most complete recovery in the people that I’m working with. But I was often disappointed with the results that I was able to achieve up until I learned about Primal Reflex Release Technique (PRRT) and then later Total Motion Release (TMR).
Before PRRT, gains made in therapy were often slow and halting and the amount of effort on both the part of the therapist and the client was quite large. Also, the therapy itself was often uncomfortable if not outright painful at times. Since mastering PRRT, the treatments are truly powerful but also almost effortless on the part of both the client and I with the overall sensation being one of relaxation and an easing of stiffness, pain and tension.
With the addition of TMR, not only did I have a fantastically effective manual technique for helping people get well, I now also had a truly powerful home exercise program with which people could maintain the improvements that we made in therapy in their own home. Because of this, I generally only treat people 1 – 4 times before their problems are either resolved or they are independent managing them at home.
That said, I have always found that there is no single treatment technique, no matter how exceptional it is, that will work for all people or all problems. Therefore, if you do not see improvement in one or two visits, it is likely that I have to offer you is not what you need right then. There is no need to continue for many weeks or months in an attempt to determine if what I do will help you.
My goal is always to get you well and independent so that you no longer have need of me and I find that there is no greater joy than working in the gifts that God has given me.
